So here we go again ladies and gentlemen…. another attempt by the Republican party and the Teabaggers to destroy everything we the people took so many years to build. Now they think for some reason their religion should come into play when it comes to human rights. Now if a so-called “closely held” Christian company decides that birth control isn’t right for you, they don’t have to include it in your benefits package. It absolutely blows my mind the lengths that some people will go to in order to get their way. Can you imagine how people would react if these were Muslim companies trying to put the same policies into place?

Over the past few years, the Supreme Court has given more rights to corporations than people with none of the responsibilities. This week five conservative Supreme Court Justices didn’t simply reaffirm the separation between church and state, they ruled that religion can supersede the law. This scares the hell out of me.

Does this mean corporations can stone their employees to death if they work on the Sabbath? Can businesses now chop the hands off shoplifters?

This Supreme Court seems to believe that life begins at incorporation, those corporations can have religious beliefs and their religious beliefs are more important than the rights of women.

Five men on the Supreme Court, who don’t appear to understand how contraceptives work, shouldn’t make health care decisions for women. We are witnessing patriarchy fueled by theocracy, not democracy.

Ladies and gentlemen let me state unequivocally that religion has absolutely no place in American government! What these people are attempting to do is force their religion upon you whether you are accepting of it or not! This my friends is just plain wrong! We as citizens of the United States of America have the absolute right to practice our chosen religion in any way we see fit. We do not, however have the right to force that religion upon others.

Just last week I was privileged to attended a gay pride picnic at a local Episcopal church. When I arrived, there were about half a dozen protesters in front of the church from another local church. You can imagine my confusion when I attend a function at one church who says it’s OK to be gay, and another church is right up front saying it’s not OK and we’re all going to hell for attending this function. Keep in mind ladies and gentlemen that these were both Christian churches. Not only did these people protest at the picnic, but the following Sunday morning they actually showed up at the other church where the picnic was held with a megaphone shouting into the church during the middle of the service! Parishioners had to call the police to have these people removed. And when they went outside the there was graffiti on the sidewalk. And this is just one example of what people do when they are so pissed off because they don’t get their way.

What’s going to happen next? Will different divisions of Christianity begin to blow up each other’s buildings? Will there be fighting in the streets of this country simply because we don’t believe the way our neighbor does? It is just absolutely puzzling to me why people can just get along. The United States of America is a very diverse nation. There are people of all colors, shapes and sizes, people of every ethnic background imaginable, people who observe just about every religion on the face of the earth. This nation will never prosper and we will never move forward until we learn to live in a harmonious fashion. You see, we can be who ever we want to be in this country. We have the freedom of being citizens of the United States of America. However, we do not have the right to force our beliefs on our fellow man. Our neighbors have the same rights that we do when it comes to religious freedom and political beliefs, and I believe that it is possible for us to individually exercise our beliefs without interfering with those of our neighbors.

Do yourself and America of flavor. Next time you’re out and you see someone who is different from you, make a concerted effort to get acquainted with that person. You might just be surprised at how good of an individual they are. Who knows? You may just make a new friend for life. Give it a try. It might just below your mind!

If the United States of America had a butt crack, it would most certainly have to be centered over the Westboro Baptist so-called Church in Topeka, Kansas.  Think about it, these scum use the Christian Bible to justify protesting the funerals of American heroes who have paid the ultimate price for their freedom. And that’s just one of the stupid stunts they pull in the name of Jesus.

Are the members of this religious cult so naïve as to think that people will hear and receive their message as something positive? They seem to sending everyone to Hell except for themselves.  Here’s the short list: Catholics, Methodists, Anglicans, Baptists (yes, Baptists but not their little cult clique), Presbyterians, Lutherans, Orthodox Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Jews and Barack Obama (they say he is the antichrist).  Let us not forget homosexuals and those of us who support their rights along with American soldiers, the news media and God only knows who else.  Did I leave anyone out?

Cult leader and false prophet Fred Phelps has taken the minds of his congregation (which mostly includes his family) and warped them all so badly that they actually believe this garbage. This brings to mind such infamous cult leaders as Jim Jones, David Koresh, Charlie Manson, Marshall Applewhite (the funny looking guy who looked like the dude from “My Favorite Martian” that rode away on the Hale- Bopp comet) and a host of other master manipulators. They, however, were far better at perfecting their craft than Phelps. Jones, for example convinced more than nine hundred people to “drink the Kool-Aid”.  Think Phelps will ever get that kind of following?  Doubtful, but I digress.

While sympathetic to all these groups, Ladies and Gentlemen, from where I sit, the American Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine and Coast Guard member deserve better than this! Whether they’re male or female, straight or gay, these brave people but their lives on the line every day to ensure that The United States of America remains a free country. If it were up to me, they would all be deported. None of them deserve to live and thrive in a country as great as The United States of America.

I will post their current protest schedule and links to each of the members’ Twitter (who they also protested) accounts below.  If these fools show up to protest a funeral or other event in your city, I admonish you as Americans who love your country to be there, signs in hand.  Form a human chain to block them from public view.  Do anything you can within the limits of Federal State and Local law to prevent their message from being heard.

If you can stomach it, you may get lucky and find some useful protest information by following WBC members on Twitter.  Below are the Twitter usernames of those members listed on their website:

I suppose now I will just sit back and brace myself for a defamation suit or a picket line outside my house.  What difference does it really make? I’m going to Hell anyway.

The following is a post I found on Facebook today. Check it out:

“CAN MUSLIMS BE GOOD AMERICANS?

This is certainly ‘food-for-thought’.
This is very interesting and we all need to read it from start to finish. And send it on to everyone. Maybe this is why our American Muslims are so quiet and not speaking out about any atrocities.

Can a good Muslim be a good American?

Religiously – no.. . . Because no other religion is accepted by His Allah except Islam . (Quran, 2:256)(Koran)

Scripturally – no. . . Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.

Geographically – no . Because his allegiance is to Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially – no. . . Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews .

Politically – no.. . . Because he must submit to the mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America , the great Satan.

Domestically – no. .. . Because he is instructed to marry four Women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34 )

Intellectually – no. . Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically – no. . . . Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran does not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot coexist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Spiritually – no.. . . Because when we declare ‘one nation under God,’ The Christian’s God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as Heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in the Quran’s 99 excellent names.

Therefore, after much study and deliberation…. Perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. – – – They obviously cannot be both ‘good’ Muslims and good Americans. Call it what you wish it’s still the truth. You had better believe it. The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future.
The religious war is bigger than we know or understand. ….
Footnote: The Muslims have said they will destroy us from within. SO FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.”

I have to say THIS: For those of you who think it’s inevitable, go ahead and begin consigning me the pits of hell, but This HAS to be the most ignorant, uneducated, “off the cuff” bunch of hogwash I have ever sen in my life!!

I have countless friends who are followers of Islam and I own a copy of the Holy Quran and after a day of studying, consulting with those friends, I can acknowledge in no uncertain terms that the majority of the above scripture has been taken completely out of context!

Without regard for what one chooses to call Him, we serve the same God! The Muslims are a peaceful people, but have their bad apples just like Christians, Jews and other mainline religions. It all appears to boil down to a “Battle Of The Extremists” , and if the original author of this “writing” (whether it be the original poster or not) got his/her information from an uneducated “preacher boy” claiming to know “all things God”, someone might want to advise this person that they’re DEAD WRONG!

It is as though just because those responsible for the bombing of The World Trade Center (and other terrorist acts) happened to be followers of Islam, all Muslims must be bad. During the World War II era, Adolf Hitler was responsible for exterminating countless Jews. Does this mean it’s only right for all of us to be anti-German? Hardly! There are a number of Christians who have claimed responsibility for the bombing abortion clinics and, Mosques and Synagogues in America and other countries. Does this mean everyone should be anti-Christian? Nope.

What on earth are these people thinking? Where is the love? Apparently lost to extremism.

Grandma’s Letter

Posted: May 28, 2010 in Uncategorized

This is Grandma’s letter. Grandma is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car. She writes:

Dear Grandson,

The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a “Honk if you love Jesus” bumper sticker. I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting. So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper.

Boy, am I glad I did, what an uplifting experience that followed. I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn’t notice that the light had changed. It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn’t honked, I’d never have noticed.

I found that lots of people love Jesus! While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, ‘For the love of God! ”Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!’

What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus! Everyone started honking! I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love!

There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach. I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked your teenage cousin who was in the back seat what that meant. He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something. Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back. Your Cousin burst out laughing. Why even he was enjoying this religious experience !!

A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So, I waved at all my brothers and sisters grinning, and drove on through the intersection.

I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared. So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away.

Praise the Lord for such wonderful Christian people!

Will write again soon,

Love,

Grandma

An elderly couple, in their 80’s, went to a sex therapist’s office and asks the doctor to watch them have sex. The doc is so amazed at such an elderly couple wanting sexual advise that he agrees.

After watching them, the doc says, “There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way you have sex.” He charges them $50 and they go on their way. The couple returns the next week and again asked the doc to watch them have sex.

After several weeks of this, the doc finally asked the couple what they wanted him to find out. The old man replies, “we’re not trying to find out anything. I’m married, so we can’t go to my house, she’s married so we can’t go to her house. The Holiday Inn charges $98, the Hilton charges $139. We do it here for $50 and Medicare pays $43 of it, leaving me only $7 to pay. & since u r a doctor, its confidential”

A recently released survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports says that 87% of Americans believe English should be the official language of The United States of America. Sounds like a plan, right? Sure it does, until we factor in the following: 83% of those surveyed also believe that companies doing business in the U.S. should be given the right to require their employees to speak English as a condition of employment. Eleven percent also believe their employees should be required (made, forced or whatever other word you’d like to use) to speak English on the job.

Don’t get me wrong. As an American, I’m all for making an official declaration that English is our “official” language. Here’s the point I ponder: If and/or when this happens, how many times in a given day will authorities detain a law-abiding American citizen or resident alien based solely on appearance for the purpose of administering an English test?

English at work? Sure!! I couldn’t agree more that essential communication pertaining to one’s job or the business in general should be conducted exclusively in English. This is America. That’s the way we do things. However, what happens to the two employees engaging in casual, non-business related conversation while working or during a break or meal period? Would this be grounds for termination of employment? I’d be willing to bet the farm that in some cases it would be.

To subscribe to the belief that one must speak English at all times or get the hell out is absolutely ludicrous! When was the last time you visited or conducted business in a foreign country and were told to either speak the official language or leave? Do you really believe that when it’s all said and done this idea would fly in the United States? Doubtful!

We must remember that we live in the United States of America, a veritable melting pot of cultures from all over the world. Chances are, your own ancestors immigrated to the United States from another country. The number of Americans who are truly natives of this country is minuscule in comparison to the number of people who actually live in the United States and are proud to call themselves Americans. So before we outlaw cultural diversity in America, let us all take a moment to stop and think about where we or our ancestorsreally came from. To impose such strict laws in a country which was founded by those who’s families originated in foreign lands would be nothing short of bigotry.

Something else to stew on: The above referenced survey was administered to a meager 1,000 Americans. The population of The United States of America as of December, 2009 was in excess of 308 million. Could this survey possibly be representative of the opinions of all Americans? Again, doubtful.
